I’m confused. Is this where I’m supposed to leave the comment after linking. I published my evaluation of The Jane Austen Book Club on my blog at http://panhandleknitandsew.blogspot.com/2009/07/jane-austen-challenge-1.html

  2. July 3, 2009 2:18 am

Checking in to tell, that I have now completed 1/6th of my challenge. Watched the most recent S&S mini-series yesterday. Thoughts on this is here :
    http://tildesquilts.blogspot.com/2009/07/boredom-and-remedies.html

  3. July 3, 2009 6:08 pm

Just checking, so all individual links for Austen posts we do can be entered on the Mr Linky here?

    • July 3, 2009 9:08 pm

Yes, with the exception of your first post to sign up for the challenge, the rest of your reviews for the challenge can be linked to the Mr. Linky above!!

  4. July 8, 2009 1:38 am

One down, five to go–I watched Bridget Jones’s Diary; added to Mr. Linky

  5. July 8, 2009 2:49 pm

So far I have watched “Clueless” and have updated my list, so I now have 12 Austen books and movies to get through 🙂

  6. July 8, 2009 5:44 pm

I watched the Lost in Austen episode this week on PBS and really loved it. I also added S&S to my IPOD and will now be able to choos among three (P&P, P, S&S) books to listen to. I also started the quilt plan and the book Quilted Diamonds (adaptation of JA quilt) by Linda Franz. There are a lot of JA fans who quilt and may be interested in this if they don’t already know about it. Just Google on Linda Franz and you will find her website.

Just finished reading Jane Austen Ruined My Life and reviewed it on my blog! One down and 11 to go! 🙂 And thanks Deb (KittyKwilter) for the info on the Jane Austen quilt…I’ve got to check that out!

  8. July 9, 2009 3:08 pm

Sir John in S&S is the minister of magic in HP and his mother in law’s daughter charlotte (married to Hugh Laurie’s character) is Dolores Umbridge!

  9. July 9, 2009 6:03 pm

I’ve finished a second item on my list, stitching the “Mr. Darcy LIterary Little” cross stitch chart. I’ll be giving the chart away to one lucky reader–check out my link for more information.

  10. July 11, 2009 9:08 am

Yay! I’m in! This sounds fun.
I’m going to read all her books again. Can’t wait!

Thank you for hosting this challenge! I never get tired of anything Jane Austen. I posted my list today.

  12. July 12, 2009 7:14 pm

I have S&S and all the audio books on my IPOD now. I actually started a quilted diamond and watched the second episode of Lost in Austen. I am also reading my copy of Lost in Austen. Alas, I am not very good at the pursuit of the right marriage (in fiction – real life husband is “My Mr. Darcy”) because I took the wrong path on the first choice. I am having worse luck than Amanda. I am also enjoying reading the other people’s blog entries.

  13. July 13, 2009 2:27 am

Have now watched by “Clueless” and “Bridget Jones’ Diary.” My post for “Clueless is at: http://litandlife.blogspot.com/2009/07/everything-austen-challenge-2.html.

Now it’s time to get down to business with some reading!

I do hope I am doing this right. I have done my 1st challenge. A review of Becoming Jane. I posted it to the Mr. Linky up top

  16. July 14, 2009 10:23 am

This was number 3. I litened to an audio book of Sense and Sensibility.

What fun…a great challenge to begin attacking on my birthday, July 15. I’m confused, though. Mr. Linky posted me as #180, but I not listed here.

Reviews of both versions of Persuasion.

  21. July 16, 2009 9:47 am

Okay, so far I have watched Clueless and Bridget Jone’s Diary. I am currently reading P&P&Zombies. I know we are supposed to choose one item per month, but I couldn’t resist watching both of those films, especially since I put on my Austen hat and began to compare the movies to the Austen books they were inspired by. Definitely a fun challenge so far!! Oh and I am a bit confused because I saw my name on Mr. Linky as #83, but then I saw my name listed and a non-blogging participant? I’ll be posting on my blog soon about what I have completed thus far. Cheers!!

  22. July 18, 2009 5:06 pm

My first Everything Austen challenge down – I’ve made a set of panniers to go under the first Mrs Darcy’s wedding dress. I’m working on the 1770s-1780s wedding dress now, and (fingers crossed) the stays and petticoat for it will be done by the end of July.

Pity the book doesn’t have more details on Mr Darcy’s mother. I rather imagine that her death had a strong affect on him, and I’m having fun imagining what sort of woman she would have been, and what sort of wedding dress she would have chosen.

  24. July 19, 2009 10:00 pm

    I just did my second challenge… http://pushersink.blogspot.com/2009/07/clueless-dvd-review.html

    Hi,

I think I’ve completed my challenge – I can’t find my original list!!

I re-read Persuasion on the train to Bath, my favourite book – I love Anne – she’s the complete opposite of her father and sisters they are vain, lazy and snobby.

In Bath I visited the Jane Austen Centre and went on the 2 hour Jane Austen walk which was very interesting – the guide pointed out Jane Austen related buildings and also buildings from Persuasion and Northanger Abbey.

I read Captain Wentworth’s Journal on the way home from Bath – it was good – nice to hear the ‘other’ side of the story.

I’ve rewatched the 1971 version of Sense and Sensibility with my favourite Edward Ferrers – Robin Ellis and re-read the book.

I’ve rewatched Emma which is not one of my favourite books to be honest.

  26. July 20, 2009 4:41 pm

I’ve just finished my second challenge for July, Jane Austen for Dummies.

Progress photo’s are on my blog. 🙂

Review of The Other Mr. Darcy, by Monica Fairview is my third of twelve on list. http://austenprose.wordpress.com/2009/07/19/the-other-mr-darcy-by-monica-fairview-%e2%80%93-a-review/

    Enjoy!

  29. July 22, 2009 8:16 pm

I finished one Diamond from the Quilted Diamonds book, recorded all my JA audio books onto my IPOD, watched all episodes of Lost in Austen on PBS aired so far, and am reading my copy of Lost in Austen. I bought a paperback copy of Persuasion for my fall book group and also bought a copy of Northanger Abbey just because. I listened to S&S already and am listening to Emma again. I’ve enjoyed reading about everyone else’s progress and am probably going to do a lot more than I said I’d do. Thanks for providing this opportunity to enjoy JA with others.

    • July 24, 2009 12:48 pm

Ah…hi Deb, I wish you had a blog (pushpush it isn’t that difficult to start one…) *Ü* so that I/we could watch your quilted diamond(s).
I’ve been watching them in my books too this week.
But they are not on my list…

I got tired of trying to figure out the difference between a phaeton and a barouche — so I put together a list of Regency glossaries. It’s a great resource to help deepen your Austen understanding.

Completed 1 of 6 tasks – watched 1981 mini series Sense and Sensibility. It was a bit clunky in parts (like they’d forgotten their lines) and I really didn’t like Tracey Childs playing Marianne (too hauty) but the story is still wonderful. This version unlike the movie with Emma Thompson (which I love) ends a little more like the novel. Jane Austen’s endings can be a bit abrupt but Sense and Sensibiity wraps up nicely. I loved the idea of Colonel Brandon and Edward being at the cottage at the same time at the end – the women surrounded by men that love them was satisfying. This version ends a little more like that.

Now on to task 2 – Pride and Prejudice and Zombies – should be a hoot.

  34. Michelle Magill permalink
    July 23, 2009 9:50 pm

Completed 2 of 6 – Watched Mansfield Park (1999) with Frances O’Connor playing Franny Price. Love this version. Love this character. Out of all the Austen women this one I can relate to the most. Probably want to BE more like Elizabeth Bennet but definately AM more like Franny Price. All the actors in this version are just as I see them in the book. This version takes me straight into the story especially the scenes back in her childhood home. You can almost smell it. Wish her brother has been included though.. an unfortunate character to drop. Mansfield Park the book wraps up too quicky for my comfort and this movie version is no different. Wish we had more time with Franny and Edmund.

Note – Still reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

  35. Michelle Magill permalink
    July 24, 2009 5:46 am

sorry folks – moment of delirium – was thinking FANNY Price and typed FRANNY price – maybe it’s the prude in me coming out – ‘fanny’ is pretty rude here in Australia!

Ok – I have a confession to make.

Think I’m gong to end up doing much more than 6 tasks but too embarrassed to say how many –

‘I do not attempt to deny’ I have already done more than I’ve confided, so ‘believe them to be more than I’ve declared’ but with a level of addiction such as mine ‘your ladyship can hardly expect me to own it.

My name is Michelle and I am 4ish decades addicted to Austen. ;-P
