A winner!
Last night I had the pleasure of speaking by phone with Kate Jacobs, author of The Friday Night Knitting Club. My book club had picked The Friday Night Knitting Club as our first read of the year and were lucky to be able to coordinate a call in from Kate. She called us right after landing at an airport in California and was in the process of looking for her lost baggage and discussing her book with our group! She was very gracious, attentive and answered all of our questions. She also confirmed the fact that the book has been optioned as a movie by Universal with Julia Roberts in the lead as Georgia Walker. It is not yet in production (due to the writers strike) but when it does come out I will be one of the first at the theater to see it! It was really a great experience to speak to Kate and I hope that I will be able to talk with her again one day.
If your book club hasn’t had the pleasure of speaking to an author, I would highly recommend it. Check to see if the author has a website and if they grant book club interviews. If you are lucky enough to schedule one, check out Lisa’s suggestions on how to run an author chat.
Anyway, thanks so much for the almost eighty people who commented on the post for the giveaway of The Friday Night Knitting Club. Using a nifty random number generator, the lucky winner is Eva of A Striped Armchair! Send me your address and I’ll get the book out in the mail!
Now if you weren’t as lucky as Eva but still want to read The Friday Night Knitting Club, you can get a copy from Amazon.com, your local bookstore or even at Target, where it is a Bookmarked Club pick. For more information about the book or author, you can visit her site here!
Oh, I would love to hear what some of your questions were and her responses! Please do share!

I loved that book so much – I’m excited it’s going to be a movie!
And also so exciting you were able to speak with the author.
Have you read The Knitting Circle by Ann Hood? It was published about the same time as this one. It’s also very good.
Congrats to the winner! It seems like a great book. I’ll be ordering it from the library soon.
